Ms. Hugdahl began her career in 1990 working as a law clerk for a well-respected and long-established Denver law firm, where she became a shareholder in 1993 and remained for twenty-five years. Primarily, Ms. Hugdahl’s practice involved the defense of public entities and public employees in both state and federal court. Her practice included matters involving a variety of constitutional claims, employment related claims (discrimination and retaliation), and land use. During her tenure, Ms. Hugdahl also represented various school districts, teachers, and board members. Ms. Hugdahl also responded to charges of discrimination filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Colorado Civil Rights Division. Ms. Hugdahl was fortunate enough to have been part of a team that went to the United States Supreme Court, prevailing on a First Amendment claim, involving an adult bookstore in a case styled City of Littleton v. Z. J. Gifts D-4, L.L.C., 541 U.S. 774 (2004).

In early 2015, Ms. Hugdahl was drawn to work in the public sector where she accepted a position with a municipality, leaving at the end of 2019 as a Deputy Town Attorney. While there, Ms. Hugdahl drafted and amended municipal codes, oversaw all aspects of personnel related matters, drafted and negotiated municipal contacts, and worked with human resources, the Town Manager and Town Clerk’s office, police, fire, public works, water, parks and recreation, finance, development services, and IT to assist them as needed in their daily operations and meeting their short and long-term goals. Ms. Hugdahl also oversaw litigation involving the Town, and with the Town Attorney, served as the legal advisor to Council and various boards and commissions.

In January 2020, Ms. Hugdahl returned to private practice with Bruno, Colin, & Lowe, (now Bruno, Colin, Goddard, and Lowe), where she resumed her work defending municipalities and public employees, primarily focusing on alleged civil rights and constitutional violations under the First, Fourth, and Eighth Amendment. Ms. Hugdahl represents public employees, in administrative matters, with a focus on first responders, and responds to officer-involved deaths and matters involving serious bodily injury.

Ms. Hugdahl is wildly passionate about the plight of wild and domesticated animals and gives to many animal causes. She and her husband enjoy spending time with family and friends, gardening, caring for their small menagerie, supporting local artists, and contributing to various first responder causes.
